Yesterday was the turn of Barcelona, as part of the Dakar World Tour, leaded by ASO sportive director Etienne Lavigne and by Felix Dot, RPM Events General Manager.
Besides the the new route already published in our website, these are the most important facts for the 2011 edition:

- entry fees increased in 7%.
-
unofficial assistance totally prohibited. A special team will be designated to control this point and any vehicle or person not officially registered, will be automatically excluded.
-
450 cc bike compulsory for all ASO priority riders. Rest of riders, bike free. From 2012, all Dakar riders on 450 cc bikes.
- Compulsory HANS (Head and Neck System) for racing cars and trucks.
- no marathon stage.
- on-line registration from 15th May till 1st of November.
On the other hand, really bad news from our friend Emilie Poucan, ASO press manager, who passed away yesterday in a tragic airplane accident. Our condolences to family and friends.
